The Legal area of the General Counsel's Office is comprised of five Assistant General Counsel's. The attorneys represent the agency at Merit Protection Commission hearings, Risk Management, oversees the submission of agency administrative rules until finalized by the Office of Administrative Rules in the Secretary of State's office, Inmate Lawsuits (assigned by the Attorney General's Office), review of all private prison contracts, assists in gathering information for Attorney General's Office, review of all formal discipline action, assists employees in preparing for depositions and trial and gives legal advice to agency upper management as needed.
