MISSION STATEMENT

We are a select group of Governor appointed, politically diverse volunteers, 
which educates, directs, advocates and holds accountable stakeholders to 
effect best correctional practices.

Performance Expectation for Board Members

The department is governed by the state Board of Corrections, a bipartisan seven-member panel of gubernatorial appointees serving six-year staggered terms. The board establishes and reviews policies for the operation of the department, appoints a director, and confirms appointments of facility and unit heads. The director is responsible to the board for performing general managerial duties.
